I paint landscapes based on my own photographs.
I want to create paintings in which the landscapes and figures recall works of painting from the past.
I happened to stop by a place where I took a photograph of two people in a pose similar to that of Jean-François Millet "The Angelus".
This photograph inspired me to begin a series of works depicting a scene shown by a real-life stranger.
A unique sense of serenity is common to all of these works, and many of them depict the figures in small sizes. This is a reference to the small figures in ukiyo-e prints.
The solitary figure on a large field is like a figure from a 90's video game that I have seen since my childhood.
As a Japanese living in a modern society where we have access to a variety of visual information, I am pursuing what landscape paintings should be like.

私が偶然立ち寄った場所で撮影した時、二人の人物がミレーの「晩鐘」と似たポーズをしていた写真がありました。

また大きなフィールド上にぽつんといる人物は幼少期からよく目にした90年代のTVゲームの人物のようでもあります。
