I believe that the "visible world" is actually invisible. Since childhood, I have depended on the visible world while contemplating the fiction I glimpse from its edges. I think I trusted my fingers more than my eyes. When I hold a camera and release the shutter, or when I hold a cutter and cut a slit in a piece of paper, or when I hold a pen and draw a line, or when I hold a needle and thread a thread, I seem to trust the rich world that my fingers sense. I live in the world I can see. But the world exists beyond that. I want to reach out and capture it. This desire lies at the root of my work.
